Out of state special interests are pressing elected officials in Maryland to redefine marriage and make homosexual marriage legal in our state during the 2012 General Assembly. Just as we did in the 2011 session, we are organizing a major grassroots effort to protect traditional marriage. Please help by spreading the word and emailing your friends using our form below.
Redefining marriage will have severe impacts on our state.
- It will have impact on our religious liberties by placing the “right” to gay marriage above the rights of those who oppose or object. In other states and nations where gay marriage has been legalized, business owners and others who have refused to participate in gay marriages have been harassed and sued. In some locations, they have even tried to promote acceptance of gay marriage to our children in public schools.
- It will undermine the critical role that traditional marriage plays in our society by connecting parents to their children. Marriage is the most pro-child institution we know and preserves the vital role that both mothers and fathers play in raising strong, successful children. Gay marriage undermines this role and disconnects marriage from procreation and child-rearing and making marriage into a genderless institituion.
